The effort to take down the entire fraudulent and activist-driven field of "gender medicine", which medicalizes gender nonconformity and turns people into lifelong patients living as impostors of the opposite sex, rather than overcoming regressive stereotypes and homophobia, is one of the few good things the Trump administration is doing, and I as a liberal can only cheer them on.

The problem is that it’s almost certainly political opportunism in order to throw a bone to his base with regard to “culture war” issues while his “guns and butter” policy agenda is business as usual that benefits and enriches the same wealthy minority while harming the majority, including his supporters

I absolutely agree that Trump himself, being the narcissistic sociopath that he is, is approaching this as a chance to "own the libs". I do not for one moment believe that he personally cares about women's rights or gay rights or children's health. But I don't think this applies to everyone in his administration or everyone involved in this effort.

A lot of the people supporting this drive to end "gender-affirming care" and the replacement of sex with "gender identity" do actually care about this issue and don't just hate "trans people" or want to fan the flames of the culture war. That's a cheap way for Democrats to dismiss any opposition to their blind support for this misguided and extremely dangerous movement. History won't look back kindly on them. (I realize this sounds a lot like what I was saying about the Left's response to Covid, and there are indeed many parallels - from the misguided approach to "protecting" children, to the false claims about having science on their side, to the authoritarian ways of quashing dissent.)

I don’t see it as a “culture war” because this is about stopping a fraudulent and harmful industry. A “culture war” would be something like a debate over prayer in public schools or some other cultural practice.

It's mainstream media framing it as a culture war.

Yes, with the effect of convincing some that this is a nothing burger instead of a medical scandal.

I hope that part of the take down includes Planned Parenthood. They are no longer advocates for women and sexual health. They are now in the business of medicalizing gender nonconformity and homosexuality in young (often autistic) women.

I recall an interview with Dr. Eithan Haim where he spoke about doctors/clinics misusing billing codes to hide their providing gender-transition items. This was in Texas, where the use of pediatric gender transition medicine is outlawed.

(You should have an entire post focusing on Calvin and Diane!)

The only difference between gender clinics and Josef Mengele is anesthesia.

The wall is crumbling. Can't happen fast enough. I appreciate the good work of advocates such as Mr Ryan speaking up for those that can't. Good job!

All these providers need to have their medical licenses revoked for fraudulent medical practice, but unfortunately that’s done by states, and the blue states will continue to protect these providers.

I don’t think just suing or investigating hospitals and doctors is enough to completely end it in blue states. In order to completely end it nationwide, there needs to be a federal ban! Otherwise, as long as it’s still technically legal and there’s still people willing to pay for it, there will be some underground doctor who will be willing to do it.

Taking down the time limit on the ability to sue doctors and hospitals would help.

Blue states are impassioned about providing "gender care".

I assume most people think of abortion, birth control, or serving low income communities-- when they think of Planned Parenthood. (I think of "gender-affirming care" on demand.)

Here is how one blue state is stepping up:

"Washington leaders plan to backfill the loss of about $11 million in federal funding for local Planned Parenthood services if cuts to the organization by the latest U.S. spending bill are approved by a federal judge.

In a news conference on Wednesday at Planned Parenthood in Seattle’s Central District, Gov. Bob Ferguson said the funding, which would be diverted from the state’s Health Care Authority, would only be necessary if a lawsuit filed in federal court this week is not successful."

This is the only repeat the ONLY action by the Trump trash that has. My approval.

“Live son or dead daughter” is extortion and should get decades in prison. Surgeons should die in jail. Clinic owners? Death penalty.

We face a future of breastless women and piss-dripping eunuchs. All for a cult.

Never affirm. Shun the “trans” brats. Burn the flags

As insurance companies see the writing on the wall, blue states will no longer have these procedures covered and the muli-billion dollar fraud industry will dry up from lack of profit.

They can declare themselves sanctuaries, but with no money that will be an empty gesture.
