In April 2023, the Biden administration proposed rules that would have largely barred policies forbidding students from participating in single-sex sports according to gender identity rather than sex.
By the way the HS girls who were unfairly beaten by the 2 boys in that photo for 4 years finally got tired of it and sued Connecticut Association of Schools back in 2020. The suit is still active and is supposed to be going to trial soon after being revived by a Federal Appeals court. It will be the first of its kind to do so:
Trump talks big of course, but the law is another matter. Any Executive Order will be challenged in court. It'll take time to officially withdraw the Title IX changes that Biden did manage to implement.
The next big fight (hopefully, if Trump's people take it on) will be to officially reverse the policy with new Title IX rule making, and explicitly ban the whole sex = "gender identity" nonsense under Title IX, which would supercede the state laws currently allowing it in blue states. That will result in blue states challenging the rule in Federal Court. Legal prospects look good in that department since we won in Federal Court in nearly every case where red states challenged Biden's rule; several Federal judges have issued temporary orders specifically saying that sex =/= "gender identity" under Title IX.
But. That scenario would only happen if Trump's people 1) Care what is going on in blue states and 2) Continue to issue new rules under the auspices of the Dept. of Education, which they want to get rid of altogether.
So who knows what will actually happen.
Of course, Congress could create a shortcut by reviving the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023, and add provisions for bathrooms and locker rooms, etc., but that too will be challenged in court by blue states no doubt.
My siblings graduated from Hillhouse High and I graduated from a similar CT high school which since closed.
Hillhouse is an academic wasteland now. 17% of the students are proficient in reading, 8% are proficient in math. But it does rank in the top 20% of high schools in athletics.
So, cart before the horse. The kids can't read and can't do math, but the important issue is whether Terry can beat the genetic women. WTF.
The "Terrys" were all low ranked in men's sports, and they, their parents and/or handlers noticed that they could win all the time if they competed with girls/women. It isn't surprising that losers with low integrity would seize the opportunity to win unfairly. What is surprising is how long it is taking for "advanced Western nations" to put a stop to the cheating. And now there is an expanding industry around "gender" that is creating a lot of money for university and private medical centers.
Thank you for reporting on the persisting efforts by the Biden administration (whatever that actually is) to subordinate girls' and womens' rights to the demands of "trans" activists. Without you, Colin Wright and all the other people reporting on this topic, it would be so much more difficult to get complete and current information about the federal government's attacks on American girls and women.
"The Biden administration’s Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights, today withdrew a proposed rule that would have largely barred policies that forbade student athletes from participating in single-sex sports according to their gender identity rather than their sex."
I read this eight times and still don't know what it means...
Washington Post has an explainer. Short version: it's a strategic move. Withdrawing them enables them to re-propose them in future and slows down Trump's anticipated efforts to use Title IX to help ban the insanity.
"Paul Compton, who was general counsel for the Department of Housing and Urban Development from 2018 to 2020 stated on X: “This is a cynical step—preserving the ability to do this in the future. If the rules had not been withdrawn, they would be subject to the Congressional Review Act. A simple majority vote of House and Senate would repeal the rules and would prohibit the agency from taking similar future action.”
How much weight do you give this interpretation? The Biden admin twice delayed publishing the new rule on sport. I thought they MIGHT be reconsidering this. But Compton seems to be saying, despite the DOE statement about lawsuits and public comments, that they are withdrawing the proposed rule change simply to preserve the ability to implement the rule changes, at a future date.
Digging further, I see Compton is a member of the Federalist Society. Everyone is interpreting this according to their pre-existing biases. Compton is a right winger with a vested interest in seeing it as a "cynical move;" Kara Dansky as seeing it a "hollow victory." The Advocate describes it as "abandoning efforts to protect transgender athletes." Fox News brings up other Democrat efforts to protect trans athletes, presumably to blunt any positive reaction to Dems by this development. I have been encouraged by the two times they have delayed issuing the final rule on sport, and how a couple of Dems the last election cycle said they did not support males in female sport. None of us knows - yet - what the real motivations are...
Ben. Thank you so much for all you do on this scandal. I hate to critique your work b/c I know you are putting your reputation and career on the line by sticking your neck out on this. Even though you are on the right side. I find some of your writing to be a bit confusing and I am one of those parents that has a so-called PhD in gender ideology, our kids, ROGD, society’s role in this and our institutions and culture. I’m always in search of well researched and thought out articles by people like you so that I may share with them with friends, family or teachers when appropriate. But sometimes I find that your writing is a bit confusing and hard to follow, especially for people who either don’t want to read what I am sharing or don’t have any understanding of what’s going on. I would suggest that you try as much as possible to not use incorrect pronouns when writing about your subjects. For example, if you’re writing about a biological male running on the girls track team, do not call him she. This whole language thing is intentionally meant to be confusing and by you following the so-called ‘rules’ you are playing along. Also, in this article your title and byline were just so complicated and full of negatives or double negatives or quadruple negatives??? 🤣 Even I couldn’t quite follow it, and I am a parent ‘expert’. For reference see Jennifer Sey’s newest article on this same topic. The title and headline, as well as the article, were much easier to follow. my concern is if people get caught in a confusing circle of words when reading literature on this topic, they will quit reading after the first paragraph. I only mean the best from this comment. And I look forward to what you have to bring in the future.
I use people's preferred pronouns. (There might be rare exceptions if a person is using a neopronoun that the average person has never heard of. Using it would just confuse people.) I will call, for example, natal males who identify as female "trans girls" or "trans women." Sometimes I will call someone a "trans-identified" child. I tend to avoid "trans-identified" in reference to adults, whose identities tend to be more stable. I do not use the term "trans-identified man" to refer to a natal male who identifies as female.
This policy is not negotiable. Many people have sought to try to push me to change it.
I think Trump won the election is because he moderated his position on abortion making it more of a state's rights issue instead of a federal issue Democrats they lost because they don't know how to moderate their positions

Yes indeed they did.
Great to hear! Thanks for reporting that!
Thanks! Baby steps....

Title IX is for women and girls!
As I noted, yes.

Looks like policy based on biological principles can continue as intended when the law was written in the 1970s.
It really does illustrate the gobsmacking insanity of these trans-activist wingnuts, when Trump is the one who comes across as NOT batshit crazy.

Boo.
Interested in what this means:

All I can say is, thank God that sanity is starting to prevail!
Wow, big news! Thanks Ben!

Hey I saw this week critique of the cash review have you responded to this https://www.erininthemorning.com/p/yale-researchers-international-experts

Could you link it
